Robert "Bob" L. Westphal, age 71 of Reeseville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at home surrounded by family and friends after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Bob was born in Beaver Dam on April 17, 1943, the son of Otto and Harriet (Wendt) Westphal. He graduated from Juneau High School in 1961 and completed the UW-Madison agriculture short course. Bob was united in marriage to Sandra "Sam" Jaeger on September 28, 2007. Having grown up on the family farm, managing it for many years and later helping his son run it, Bob's lifelong passion was farming. Bob also worked at Kraft Foods in Beaver Dam and Milwaukee Stockyards in Reeseville. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, socializing with neighbors, playing cards and horseshoes.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sam of Reeseville; his children, Brian (Tanya) Westphal of Reeseville and Holly (Paul) Danieli of Wilmington, MA; his grandchildren, Kalie and Kari Westphal, Jake and Jenna Danieli; his brother, Jon (Sharon) Westphal of Columbus; the mother of his children, Jean Haase of Beaver Dam and further survived by nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew, Jeff Mohr and other relatives.
A funeral service for Bob will be held on Friday, March 13 at 5:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam with Rev. Paul Vander Galien officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at Cornerstone, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be served at Cornerstone. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Lowell Cemetery.
