Robert (Bob) E. Miller, of Manchester, passed away on January 11th, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on August 8th, 1932 to Lester and Mildred (Mielke) Miller. On June 21, 1953, he was united in marriage to Eloise Bender at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manchester.

Bob attended Mackford Prairie and Markesan Schools. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, he was a member of the Army National Guards, served in Korea, and was a member of the American Legion Post 282. In 1957, Bob resided in Green Lake and worked at Speed Queen while he also started a backhoe business in Manchester, where he eventually settled with his growing family of seven children. In 1959, Robert and Eloise built Miller's Texaco Gas Station and in 1970 he opened the Wayside-Drive-In restaurant next to their home near Manchester. In addition to being a business owner, he was a bus driver for Markesan School District in the 70's, worked as a farmer at various places, worked as a correctional guard at Fox Lake Prison for 21 years, and worked as a Rural Mail Carrier for 19 years.

After Bob's retirement, he kept busy providing transportation for the Amish community and being a Special Olympics Coach, which allowed him to see his son, Darrin, participating in various events.

Robert was a faithful and active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manchester and served wherever he was needed. He was a farmer at heart. Bob was known for his kindness, willingness to help others and was always there for his family and friends. Bob could always put a smile on your face. He looked at the positive things in life and never gave up. He kept saying he was going to walk again. God has granted him that wish. He will be missed dearly by all.

Robert is survived by his wife: Eloise (Lois) Miller; children: Debra Miller, Douglas Miller, Denise (Frank) Michalowski, David Miller, Darrin Miller, Doreen (Scott) Bigler and Dean (Kelly) Miller; Grandchildren: Joel Miller, Ashley Miller, Amber (Josh) Yahnke, Brittany Miller, Kayla Michalowski, Cody Michalowski, Brock Bigler, Christina (Kyle) Frake, Stephanie (Jacob) Salzmann, Brady Bauer, Kelsey (Robert) Koebler and Mason Miller; Great-Grandchildren: Teeia, Olivia, Aleah, Alyssa, Jayden, Roman, Connell, Kieran, Eloise, Everly, Emerson, Brendan, Cameron and Braxton; Sisters: Gladys Witkowski and Doris Bunkoske; many other family and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; Lester and Mildred Miller; In-laws: Gertrude and Edward Bender; brothers: Vernon (Edna Mae and Eleanor) Miller and Donald (Roberta) Miller; sisters: Arlene (Rex) Barton and Marilyn (Louis Salzwedel and Carl) Jahns; brother-in-laws: Ron Krentz, and Leo Witkowski; daughter-in-law: Betty Miller; nephew: Scott Bunkoske; niece: Lisa Miller; granddaughter and other relatives.

A special thanks to Hospice-Generations, Visiting Angels- Betty, VA for supporting Bob's home health needs and Pastor Plagenz's many visits and prayers.

Visitations will be held at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services in Markesan on January 19th from 4-7 p.m. Church service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Manchester on January 20th at 11 a.m. with Visitations offered from 10-11 a.m. There will be a Military service at the gravesite in Manchester with a luncheon to follow.
