Robert J. Eilbes, age 91 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.
Robert was born on December 28, 1919 in the Township of LeRoy to Henry and Magdalena (nee Feucht) Eilbes. On July 10, 1943 he was united in marriage to Mildred Glodowski at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. Robert worked at A.C. Streed Tool & Die in Mayville during the war, and farmed all of his life in the Mayville and later Beaver Dam areas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling and playing cards with his family. He loved his wife dearly and enjoyed taking care of her right up until his last day. Robert was a member of the Eagles Club and St. Katharine Drexel Parish, where he was active in the Holy Name Society.
Robert is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred of Beaver Dam; his three sons, Robert M. (Betty) Eilbes, Thomas A. (Phyllis) Eilbes, and Michael J. (Sue) Eilbes, all of Beaver Dam; his grandchildren, Carolyn (Josh) Huenink, Timothy (Pam) Eilbes, Scott Eilbes, Michelle Eilbes, Sara (Chris) Simon, and Kevin Eilbes; four great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Rosella DeGroot of Appleton, Coletta Smith of Lake Mills, Valeria Straub of Campbellsport, Edward Eilbes of Brownsville, Grace Tarr of Mayville, and Jerome (Pat) Eilbes of Brownsville. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Roman, Alvin, Melvin, Ambrose and Richard; and his sister, Armella Bruni.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert will be on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring Street, Beaver Dam with Father Mike Erwin as celebrant. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd, Beaver Dam and also on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Beaver Dam and a luncheon will follow back at the funeral home.
