Robert "Gabes" J. Goebel, Sr., age 84, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Beaver Dam Health Care Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 8th at the American Legion, 229 Poet Street in Columbus, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Robert was born in Reeseville, WI on November 4, 1938. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On August 27, 1960, he was united in marriage to his wife, Patricia Foss in Reeseville. Robert had more than 30 years of service as a salesman at Mosinee Converted Products, where he would often take clients on fishing trips while trying to close a deal. He then retired to the waters and woods of Wisconsin. An avid hunter and fisherman, he looked forward to his yearly trip to Cornucopia, Wisconsin with the Squaw Bay Buck Hunters Association. He also formed the Columbus Turkey Hunters Club. When he wasn't hunting or fishing, he could often be found cooking and was particularly known for his wild game feasts.

Friends and family always looked forward to having a beer with Gabes, he will be sorely missed.

Robert is survived by his wife, Patricia Goebel; daughter; Carrie (Keith) Schoeffling; son, Rob (Pat) Goebel; grandchildren, Brad (Jessica) Green, Jamie (Tyler) Heindl, Corey (Maddy) Green; Kelsey (Josh) Greeley; Taylor Goebel; great-grandchildren, Hadley Grace and Harrison Gabe Green; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
