Obituary

Robert J. Gunderson, age 66 of Beaver Dam, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, April 5, 2010 at his home in Beaver Dam.

Robert was born on September 1, 1943 in Beaver Dam to Theodore O. and Catherine (nee Miller) Gunderson. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1961 and following his graduation, he served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1964. Upon returning home from the service, he went to work as a journeyman tool and die maker at Monarch Malleable Iron Range Co. from 1964 to 1985 and later at E.R. Wagner in Hustisford from 1985 until his retirement. On July 2, 1966 he was united in marriage to Donna Dean at Church of Christ in Beaver Dam. When the children were younger, Bob loved to go camping. His favorite trips were camping by trout streams and doing a little fishing. Bob was a multi-talented man who had several hobbies. He liked doing yard work, trap shooting, fishing, hunting (especially duck hunting), carving duck decoys and other birds and collecting old ones. Bob loved photography and had his own dark room as a hobby for many years. He also had a special gift of wood working and made several pieces for the house. He went to many flea markets and auctions to collect antiques and would then use his talent at wood working to restore the furniture he bought. When the children were older, Bob and Donna took on the hobby of showing and breeding Boxers. Bob served on the board of the Boxer Club of Milwaukee for many years and was also a member of the American Boxer Club. He enjoyed traveling and showing the dogs and made many friends in the breed. Bob was also a member of the Church of Christ in Beaver Dam. He was a loving and caring man with a good sense of humor and will be sadly missed by many.

Bob is survived by his wife Donna of Beaver Dam; children, Chad Gunderson of Los Angeles, CA Holly (Eldon) Bell of Palmer, Alaska; Grandchildren, Robert (Elizabeth) Radig Jr. and Cody Burmester both of Beaver Dam; step-grandchildren, Ian Bell of Palmer, Alaska, Maria (Brian) Piper of Murakami, Japan and a brother, Theodore (Joan) Gunderson of Elkhorn, WI. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
