Robert L. Born, age 78 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Agrace Hospice in Madison.

Robert was born on August 16, 1935 at Waupun Memorial Hospital, the son of Lester L. and Norma L. (nee Toll) Born. He graduated from Waupun High School. Robert was a real leader among men, devoted to his honorable career as a deputy sheriff and game warden who never backed down in the face of danger. Robert was united in marriage to Judith Dykstra at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnett, where he served as the Chairman of the Congregation. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  In his free time, Robert enjoyed hunting, trapshooting, and spending time with family and friends. He also won the World Lumberjack Championship in 1968. He was a truly wonderful man who is deeply loved and will be missed by his family.

Robert is survived by his wife, Judith of Beaver Dam; his children, Les (Janene) Born of Beaver Dam, Susan (Gary) Koehler of Beaver Dam, William Born of Waupun, Kathleen (Jim Madden) Nitschke of Beaver Dam and Dan (Kathleen Keating) Born of Pardeeville; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Betty. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter, Kimberly Nitschke and other relatives.

Visitation for Robert will take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, N9520 Hwy 26 in Burnett, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

A Funeral Service for Robert will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Floyd Gogolin officiating. Burial will take place at Burnett Union Cemetery in Burnett and a luncheon will be served back at Cornerstone.
