Robert R. Punzel, age 85 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.
Born on the family farm on July 27, 1925, Robert was the youngest child of Max and Elsie (nee Raether) Punzel. He went to the country school between Cambridge and Lake Mills and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1943, before serving his country in the United States Navy. On June 19, 1948, Bob was united in marriage to Doris Nyland in Lake Geneva. He worked in the oil business for many years and retired from Murphy Oil Company in 1986. Before moving to Beaver Dam in 1991, Bob and Doris lived in Waukesha for many years. Bob loved traveling. He went on numerous cruises and road trips across the country, where he enjoyed seeing new sights, playing golf and spending time with family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris of Beaver Dam; his children, Bobbe (Jeff) Schuknecht of Princeton and Blaine (Jeanne) Punzel of Johnson Creek; his grandchildren, Season (Thomas) Treder, Saxony (Eric) Albers, and Jared Punzel; his great-grandchildren, Brodie and Elwood Treder, Finley and Tucker Albers. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
In honoring Bob's wishes, private family services will be held.
