Robert L. Schramm, 83, of Waupun died Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du lac.
Bob was born January 27, 1934 in Watertown, the son of Ernie and Esther Schlesner Schramm. Bob was a graduate of Watertown High School. He continued his education, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from UW-Whitewater and Master’s Degree in Education from North Michigan University in Marquette, MI. On February 2, 1957 he married Sylvia Pirola at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon, WI. Bob served as a principal in Sullivan, Ixonia, and Waupun School Districts. He then worked at CESA6 in the gifted and talented programs for many years from which he retired. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 2016 he was able to go on one of the Honor Flights to Washington, D.C. Bob played baseball with Watertown, Lebanon, and Waupun. Bob and Sylvia loved traveling, dancing, and playing cards. Bob also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports. Bob was a member of American Legion Post 210 in Waupun and an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sylvia Schramm of Waupun; four children: Susan Landaal of Waupun, Doreen (Jim) Rompre of Beaver Dam, Valerie (Craig) Arndt of Waupun, and Steve (Stacy) Schramm of Waupun; grandchildren: Ryan (Angela) Arndt of Brandon, Jennifer (Matt) Buwalda of Alto, Nicholas (Tiffany) Arndt of Waupun, Katherine (fiance?, Corey Dardenne) Rompre of Fort Worth, TX, Melissa (Dustin) Blanchard of Baton Rouge, LA, Renae Rompre of Beaver Dam, Carson Schramm of Waupun, Carter Schramm of Waupun, and Connor Schramm of Waupun; seven great-grandchildren: Landon Buwalda, Cole Arndt, Laney Arndt, Lena Arndt, Logan Arndt, Liam Buwalda, and Matilda Arndt; two brothers: Jim (Joyce) Schramm of Watertown and Dennis (Genie) Schramm of Watertown; and a sister, Myrna Richter of Gilbert, AZ.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Esther Schramm; an infant grandson, Aaron Landaal; a sister, Judy Polensky; brothers-in-law: Bob Polensky and Joe Richter; and mother and father-in-law, Frank and Louise Pirola.
Visitation
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Sunday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Services
Funeral services for Robert Schramm will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun with Rev. Jeff Nicla officiating.
Burial
Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun where American Legion Post 210 will provide military honors.
