Rodney Allen Block, age 65, of Montello, WI passed away after a short, but courageous battle with cancer on September 28, 2024.

Rodney was born in DeWhitt, Iowa, middle child of 11 to Elbert and Donna Block (Sullivan) on July 10, 1959. Rod went to high school in Markesan where he made all conference in football and wrestling. After he graduated high school, Rod owned his own construction business and shortly after enlisted in the Army from 1984-92. Rod served in Korea from 1989-90 and then went to the middle east for Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Rod was very devoted to his country, devoting over 30 years to government service. After his 2 tours in the Army, he worked as a police officer for the VA Hospital in Madison, WI. After a couple years he moved to Montello, WI and worked as a correctional officer for the Federal Bureau of Prisons where he retired after 21 years. Besides serving his country, Rod loved to hunt and fish with his 2 sons and grandchildren. Rod cherished his mornings with his grandchildren bringing them "Grandpas Donuts" and taking them to daycare. Rod also enjoyed trading stocks in the stock market.

Rodney is survived by his son, Kyle (Katie) Block, 2 grandchildren, Kyler and Kasen Block, and Mother, Donna Block (Sullivan). He is further survived by his 7 siblings, Sue Klawitter, Bob (Leah) Block, Joe (Tina) Block, Connie (David) Wanless, Mary (Jeff) Wanless, Anita (Pat) Keegan, Sandy Gough, 2 sisters in-law, Sharon Block, and Irene Block, and best friend, Brian Schulz.

Rodney is preceded in death by, son Anthony Block, father, Elbert Block, brothers, Jim Block, Dennis Block, Randy (Kris) Block, brothers in- law, Brian Gough, and Bud Klawitter.

A  graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11am at Phelps Cemetery in Markesan, WI.
