Rodney Gene Binder, age 91 of Beaver Dam, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at home.
He was a kind, faithful man who always smiled and loved deeply . He brought joy to so many, he was quick to laugh, listen and visit everyone. He will be missed by all who met him.
Rodney was born May 2, 1935, in Mayville, WI, the son of Lester and Dorothy (Ubel) Binder. He grew up in Randolph, but lived most of his life in Fox Lake, before moving to Beaver Dam.
Rodney was a veteran of the US Army. He worked as an Industrial Engineer at Monarch Range and Lyco Manufacturing for 25-years each. He was very active in the community from helping to launch Bunny Berrigan Day's in Fox Lake, President of the Dodge County Concert Association, acting in numerous shows with the Beaver Dam Area Community Theater, bowling, Board of Directors for Beaver Dam Arts Association, Friend of the Arts at the Seippel Center, Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce, Fox Lake Library Board, volunteer at the hospital and other organizations. He was a deeply faithful man who was extremely active in St. John's Lutheran Church as Superintendent of Sunday School for 26-years, Board of Education, church council, Board of Elders, Evangelism Committee, served communion, volunteered with the school, and sang in the choir. He graduated Randolph High School, with additional studies at UW-Fond du Lac and MPTI. He was also an accomplished musician, singing and playing the piano for many to enjoy.
Rodney is survived by his son David (Bill Stevens) Binder, daughter Angela Binder, granddaughter Kaylee Rodenkirch, great grandson Giovonni Rodenkirch (whom he simply adored), sister Bettie (Edward Surprise) Mallon, brother Lester (Judy Jansen) Binder, Jr.; and is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Darlene (John) Hyne Posthumus, Janice (John) Frey, Dyvonne (Howard) Loker, Connie Binder, and Donna (Ronald, Sr.) Nehmer; ex-wife Alice (Winchell) Binder; and other relatives.
Visitation for Rodney will take place at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fox Lake on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
