Roger Allan Krause, 80 of Markesan, WI passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2023.
Visitation for Roger will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St. Markesan, WI. Burial will take place on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. Neillsville City Cemetery, Maple Rd. Neillsville, WI.
Roger was born to Carl and Leona Krause on May 25, 1943 in Neillsville, WI. He married Carol Horehled on August 22, 1964 and they had two wonderful sons where they lived in Neillsville, Marshfield, Sparta before settling in Markesan, WI.
Roger worked for Rollonhomes in Marshfield. Roger and Carol then partnered with JG Hull Excavating in 1974 for a short term the company then became K&H Excavating and shortly after, the company became known as Krause Excavating Inc. Roger and Carol purchased the Horehled Family Farm in the early 1980's where Roger would work on the weekends. In 1989 they decided to expand their Excavating business and purchased Wendt's Sewer and Excavating in Kingston, WI. Roger was a precision Drag Line Operator and Excavator.
Roger will be forever remembered as a hard-working, quiet, caring man. He enjoyed farming, hunting, motorcycling, snowmobiling, skiing, and on the weekends, he would fly the family and house pets to the farm. He was a member to the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, WI.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Wallace Krause and brother-in-law, Richard Quast.
Roger is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Krause; two sons, Allan Krause and Neil (Melanie) Krause; granddaughter, Gemma (Colten) Grams; two step-grandsons, Dulton (Jessica) Schulz and Riley Schulz; two great-step-grandchildren, Aspen and Waylon; brother, Kenneth (Marlynn) Krause, sister, Kathlean Quast; two sisters-in-law, Helen (Dick) McFarlane and Joannie (Randy) Schlinsog; and 17 nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the Staff at the Barrett House in Ripon and SSM Hospice for taking care of Roger.
