IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roland R.
Jahnke
October 28, 1921 – February 9, 2018
Roland Rudolph Jahnke, 96, of Markesan joined his Heavenly Father on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Markesan Resident Home.
Roland was the youngest son of Rudolph and Bertha (Hinze) Jahnke, born on October 28, 1921 at home in the township of Marquette, Green Lake County, Wisconsin. On April 11, 1947, he married his love, life partner and friend, Mona Berg, at Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro, Wisconsin. God blessed them with over 70 years of marriage. Roland farmed his entire life and one year after they were married, they bought a farm just west of Markesan where they raised 4 beloved children. Roland believed hard work was a blessing and strived to leave everything better than he found it. Roland took civic duties to heart and was involved in many community organizations over the years: serving in 4H, serving on the Manchester School Board, and as president of Green Lake County Farm Bureau. Roland was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan and was active in evangelism outreach. Roland enjoyed playing cards, building and fixing things.
Roland is survived by his wife Mona Jahnke of Markesan and their four children, Kenneth Jahnke of Detroit, Dennis Jahnke of Markesan, Marc (Dawn) Jahnke of Marquette, and Diann (Craig) Rex of Horicon; his grandchildren, Roman (Carolyn) Jahnke, Ryan (Kami) Jahnke, Daniel (Carla) Jahnke, Pernell (Jill) Jahnke, Randy (Brittany) Jahnke, Charity (Jared) Jirschele, Chrystal Baird, Melody Rex, Alison Rex, Hamilton Rex, and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Bertha Jahnke; his brothers Helmuth (Francis) Jahnke, Walter (Irene) Jahnke, Harry (Olga) Jahnke, and Guenther (Winifred) Jahnke; his sisters Hildegarde (Arlen) Thompson, and Erna (Jerome) Adamski; sister-in-law Dorothy Jahnke; and infant grandchild Alexander Rex.
Visitation for Roland will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Jason Jobs officiating. A fellowship lunch will be served immediately following the service at the church.
