Ronald Giannoni age 90, of Waupun, passed away on October 4, 2026.
Ronald Giannoni was born November 21, 1935 in Chicago, IL, the son of Erwin and Olga Galassini Giannoni. Upon graduating from high school, Ron furthered his education, receiving a BA degree from St. Mary's College in Winona, MN in 1957. In 1959, he received his Master's Degree in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame and in 1962 he received his Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin. On August 20, 1960 he married Margaret "Marge" Nickel in Waupun. Following their marriage the couple resided in Waupun for most of their married lives. Ron was employed by the Department of Corrections in Wisconsin for 37 years, having worked in Madison, Waupun, Fox Lake, and Oshkosh, retiring in 1996. Ron also served the United States Army Reserve as a Lt. Colonel, retiring in November of 1995. Ron was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waupun where he served in the past as a Trustee, a Lector, and Religious Education Instructor. He was a past Board of Director for the Waupun Hockey Association, a member of the Reserve Officer Association, American Legion, and past member of the Community Advisory School Board of Social Work at Marion College. He was a member of the American Legion Post 347 of Lady Lake, FL. Ron and Marge were residents of The Villages, FL since 2005. They traveled extensively, both domestic and internationally.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Marge Giannoni of Waupun; five children: Mary (Ray) Boender of Ormond Beach, FL, Tim ("Gi Gi") Giannoni of Atlanta, GA, Kay Giannoni of Fond du Lac, WI, Ann (Dan) Ferch of Brandon, WI and Mark (Sandra) Giannoni of Appleton, WI; three grandchildren: Christa (Brad) Frost, Marissa Giannoni and Lucas Giannoni; two great grandchildren; Emma and Mason Frost; A step-sister: Noreen (Roger) Monaco of Chicago; A step-brother: Ed (Karen) O'Halloran of Streamwood, IL; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Olga Galassina Giannoni.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 9-11am at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Waupun, with an 11am service to follow. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Waupun.
