Ronald J. Ferstl, age 58 of Briggsville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. Ron was born on November 13, 1951 in Beaver Dam to Bernard and Eunice (nee Zuehlke) Ferstl. He attended Beaver Dam High School and graduated in 1969.
Throughout his life Ron worked at John Deere, farmed with his father, surveyed with various surveying companies, and most recently was a maintenance employee at various Portage-area banks.
Ron enjoyed the outdoors, living in the country and spending time by the pond he built. He also enjoyed traveling, motorcycling, camping, fishing, and hunting. Ron loved to bake and was always making some sort of "treat". He also enjoyed spending time with his "step" granddaughters, Lily and Tessa.
Ron is survived by his parents, Bernard and Eunice Ferstl of Beaver Dam; brothers and sister, Robert (Marilyn) Ferstl of Florida, Richard (Maureen Prunuske) Ferstl, Bruce (Gail) Ferstl, Brian (Lana) Ferstl and Diana (Ray) Pearson all of Beaver Dam. He is further survived by nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Chrissy, Jonathan, Steve, Jason, Janel, Craig (Holly), Michelle (Matt), Brianna, Brandon, Brett and Paula; 5 great-nieces, a special friend Jean McFaul and her daughters, Judi McFaul and Connie (Dale) Curtin. Ron is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Mary Ferstl and maternal grandparents, Jack and Alice Zuehlke.

A Funeral Service for Ron will take place on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd in Beaver Dam with Deacon Dr. Edward Cody officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service at the funeral home and inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
