Obituary

Rose Marie Waldvogel, age 75 of Markesan, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Monday, February 19, 2024.

Visitation for Rose will take place on Friday, February 23, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 125 Church St., Princeton, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Bosco Pudhota as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery, town of Green Lake.

Rose was born in Antigo on March 19, 1948, the daughter of Eugene and Rita (Aulik) Mattek. She was a 1966 graduate of Antigo High School, then graduated from Langlade County Teachers College and UW-Steven's Point, where she earned a bachelor's degree in teaching. On August 10, 1968, she was united in marriage to her husband, Richard Waldvogel at St. Wencel's Catholic Church in Deerbrook. Rose was a wonderful mother and grandmother, devoted wife, and servant of others. She taught third grade at Crestwood Elementary school near Antigo and later instructed in the HSED program at Moraine Park Technical College for 15 years. She and Richard moved to Markesan to establish the Roy Creek Dairy Farm in 1972. Continuing her passion for agriculture and teaching, she was also a leader in the Green Lake County 4-H program for 34 years. Rosebud, as she was known to close friends, enjoyed games and was an avid Scrabble player. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, shopping, and occasionally, gambling. Rose was also a faithful Catholic, even watching Mass from home when she was homebound.

Rose is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Mark Waldvogel, Gina (Charles) Mittelstadt, David Waldvogel, Jolyn (Timothy) Rasmussen, Kathleen Waldvogel, and Sara (Ross) Miller; grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, and Charlie Mittelstadt, Ashley and Quintin Waldvogel, Samantha and Alyson Rasmussen, and Lily and Luna Miller; siblings, Jeanne (Gary) Bohn, Kathy Rogers (Mark Wagner), and Tom (Laura) Mattek; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Rita Mattek.
