Rosemary Nickel, age 76 of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2009 at U.W. Hospital in Madison.

Rosemary was born on April 4, 1932 in Beaver Dam to Harold & Dorothy (Knorr) Zahn. She was united in marriage to her first husband, Wayne Vander Galien of Lowell, in 1948. Together they had six children, and he passed away unexpectedly in 1964. In 1970, she married her present husband, Reinholdt "Bill" Nickel. Rosemary worked at Weyenberg Shoe Factory in Beaver Dam, until her retirement in 1994.

Rosemary is survived by her husband Bill, her children, Beatrice (Jeff) Wendt-Vujnovich of Beaver Dam, David Vander Galien of Reeseville, Donald (Sherry) Vander Galien of Wautoma, MaryAnn (Gary) Noe of Oklahoma, and Cindy (Tim) Young of Waupun; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Jerome (Arlene) Zahn of Cedarburg, WI; two sisters, Sandy Bischoff of Washington and Patricia Jacquot of Beaver Dam. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Wayne Vander Galien, her sister Margaret Huph, her son Thomas Vander Galien, a son-in-law Kenneth Wendt, and a granddaughter, Laurie Wendt.

A Funeral Service for Rosemary will take place on Monday, February 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam with Rev. David Stephens officiating. Visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Lowell Cemetery in Lowell.
