Obituary
Ruth Rose "Boots" Castleman, age 72, of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 surrounded by her family at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Ruth was born on December 13, 1935 in Minnesota Junction to Victor and Hilda (nee Wendt) Duzinski. After graduating from Watertown High School she went on to Nursing School and graduated from Deaconess Nursing School in Milwaukee. On December 29, 1959 she married Melvin Thomas Castleman. Ruth worked as a R.N. at several area nursing facilities, including Marquardt Manor in Watertown and Continental Manor in Randolph, until her retirement. She was a very avid reader, sometimes getting through a book each day. She loved flowers, cooking, cooking and entertaining for her family and especially bird watching, and her life list of birds is very extensive. Ruth loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. They always held a very special place in her heart and right up to the end when she wasn't feeling very well, when they walked in the room, her emotions and spirits were instantly uplifted. She was a very giving person throughout her life and in death she continued to be thinking of helping others by being an
organ and tissue donor.
Ruth is survived by her children; Teresa (Richard) Gourley of Beaver Dam, Amanda (Tim) Konkel of Columbus, Justin (Beth) Castleman of Franklin, Mitch (Anna) Castleman of Portage and Phillip (Kristen) Castleman of Endeavor, WI, her grandchildren; Travis, Tyler and Quinn Copeland, Mari and Kelsey Konkel, Zachary and Lucas Brubaker, Alexander and Spencer Castleman, Kesha Aeschlimann, Marlena Schlub, Cody and Samantha Castleman, Tricia Schneider and Colin Thomas Castleman, great grandson Chase Fischer, her brother, Earl (Rosemarie) Klossner of Beaver Dam, two sisters, Florence Neuendorf of West Bend and Mary "Bun" (Les) Remmick of Sandy, Oregon. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin on Feb. 22, 1995, an infant son Michael in 1960, a brother Franklin Klossner, brother in law, Melvin Neuendorf and a sister in law, Florence Klossner.
A Memorial Gathering for Ruth will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 from 11:00a.m. until 1:00p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd, Beaver Dam.
