IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra "Sandy"
Ann Driver
September 6, 1940 – December 19, 2021
Sandra "Sandy" Ann (Radtke) Driver, age 81 of Manchester, WI, ascended the stairway to heaven on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the Markesan Resident Home, with loving family by her side.
Sandy was born on September 6, 1940, to Rex Albert Radtke and Dorothy Viola (Meyer) Radtke Loveland at their family home in Markesan, WI, and was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan. As a small child her family moved to Manchester and owned and operated Rex's General Store (today the Hitching Post) where they lived above the store. She attended Sunday School and was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manchester. After attending Grand River School in Manchester, she graduated from Markesan High School in 1958, enjoying playing saxophone in the band, being a cheerleader, doing projects with the Grand River Workers 4-H Club, and playing with her many cousins and friends along the way.
Upon graduation from Business School in Milwaukee, Sandy worked for Northwestern Mutual Life as the Secretary to the Personal Secretary of Edmond Fitzgerald. She then worked as a sales expediter at General Electric in Milwaukee for over 25 years, where she met the love of her life, Blon Driver, Jr. Making their home in Hales Corners and later Greenfield, WI, together they enjoyed county and gospel music, and visiting Blon's relatives in Tennessee. In 1996 Sandy underwent a successful kidney transplant, necessitated by the polycystic kidney disease she had been managing since she was a young woman. In 2004 Sandy and Blon returned to Manchester to be closer to her family and friends. She loved Elvis (even saw him live in concert), pretty clothes and dishes, talking with her friends on the phone, spending time with the GE Quarter Century Club and Manchester Senior Citizens, playing with her kitties, going out for lunches, and most of all, spending time with family.
Sandy is survived by her beloved sister Ardell "Dell" Ross of Manchester; two nephews; Gregg (Shari) Ross of Markesan, and David Ross of Manchester; one niece; Dawn (Allan) Neuman of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; two great nieces, Rachel Ross (AJ Andrews) of Fort Collins, CO, and Caitlin Neuman (Josh Fangman) of Madison, WI; one great nephew, Rex Ross of Manchester; Blon's daughter Lea Ann (Michael) Tiskus of West Allis, WI and her children, grandchildren, nephews and their children; and many dear cousins, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved Blon, her mother and father, her brother-in-law Wally Ross, Blon's daughter Jody and grandson Adam, seven aunts, five uncles and many dear cousins and friends.
The family wishes to thank Rev. Michael Plagenz and the many doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Froedtert Hospitals, Ripon Medical Center, Markesan Resident Home, SSM Agnesian Home Care, SSM Agnesian Hospice Hope, Meals on Wheels (especially Marie), and her senior van drivers (especially Dwayne) for their kindness, expertise and assistance to Sandy over the years, especially over the past few months.
In memory of Sandy, please consider becoming an organ donor and helping another person live a longer and fuller life, just like the wonderful person who made it possible for Sandy to be with us much longer than she otherwise would have been.
A private funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manchester, with the Rev. Michael Plagenz officiating. Interment will follow on the hillside of the Markesan Memorial Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in 2022 at a time to be determined.
Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St., Markesan is honored to be serving the family.
