Obituary

Sharon Louise Jahnke, age 74 of Kingston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.

Visitation for Sharon will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 4:00 p.m – 7:00 p.m at Cornerstone Funeral and Cremation Services, 181 S Main St, Markesan and also on Sunday, January 28 from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 316 Vine St, Kingston with Rev. Frank Rose officiating.  Burial will take place at Salemville Cemetery.

Sharon was born on February 14, 1943 at home in the town of Kingston, the daughter of Carl and Florence (Plagenz) Bender Sr. She graduated from Cambria High School. On September 16, 1961 she was united in marriage to Verlyn W. Jahnke at St. John's Lutheran Church in Salemville. In addition to raising her family, cooking, baking, gardening and taking care of her home, she also held several jobs in the local area over the years. Sharon was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kingston and served as Town Treasurer for the township of Marquette. Her hobbies included doing puzzles, taking bus tour trips and traveling. She loved her family dearly, never hesitated to put others ahead of herself, and will be greatly missed.

Sharon is survived by her children, Gale (Sharon) Jahnke of Markesan, Gwen (Tom) Haight of Sturgeon Bay and Gina (Doug) Baerwolf of Portage; grandchildren Kyle Jahnke, Jordan Jahnke, Caleb Jahnke, Isaac (Ashley) Haight, Hannah (Ben Felhofer) Haight, Rachel Haight,  Levi Haight, Ezra Haight and Ethan Baerwolf; brothers, Virgil (Judy) Bender and Carl (Carroll) Bender Jr. both of Dalton; brothers-in-law, DuWayne (Sandy) Jahnke of Markesan and Rev. Gene (Betty) Jahnke of Sarona, WI, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Verlyn on July 10, 2017, sister-in-law Jean Bender, nephew David Bender and other relatives.
