Sherry A. Trappen, age 67 of Markesan, went to her heavenly home on February 2, 2022 at Ripon Memorial Hospital after dealing with health issues.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 11, 2022 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 65 W Catherine St., Markesan, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
She was born on December 7, 1954 to Allen and Shirley Trappen (nee Wingert) in Freeport, Illinois. Her father passed before she was born. She was baptized in faith at a young age. She became a confirmed member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Markesan, WI on April 20, 1969.
Shirley remarried to Robert "Duke" Lieske. They moved to Markesan, WI. Sherry attended Markesan Elementary School, graduated high school from Martin Luther Academy (New Ulm, MN) in 1973, and received her bachelor's degree in teaching from Dr. Martin Luther College (New Ulm, MN) in 1977. She taught for a few years before returning to Markesan. There she worked at Del Monte and Miles Kimball. In 1984, she began her career with the State of WI, Dept of Corrections. Throughout her career she held positions at Columbia, Dodge, and Fox Lake Correctional Institutions, before retiring in 2016. Since 1997, Sherry and her brother have been co-owners of Markesan Econo-Wash, LLC.
She enjoyed card club, traveling, collecting antiques, cross-stich, doing crafts, reading, and spending time with loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Robert Lieske and Allen Trappen, as well as grandparents.
She is survived by brother, Mark (Sharon) Lieske; nieces, Amanda (Vince) Wendt, Amber (Dale) Stoll all of Dalton, WI and Amaris (Aaron) Odya of Watertown, SD; along with great nephews, Keaton Lieske, Caleb Stoll, Jacob Stoll, Lucas Stoll, and Ryker Stoll; great nieces, Eva Wendt and Serenity Odya; high school friend, Carolyn (John) Baumann and family; other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to staff from SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital and Markesan Resident Home for the care given to Sherry in the last weeks of her life.
