Shirley Andersen, age 69, of Sun Prairie, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026.
Shirley was born December 5, 1956, to Herman and Hazel (Rainey) Dykstra. She graduated from Waupun High School and later attended Moraine Park.
Shirley went into the insurance business, eventually owning her own business where she sold life, health, and other types of insurance. She also worked with processing mortgages, which she greatly enjoyed, and was an estate planning associate for 10 years.
Shirley was a world traveler and loved traveling abroad. She also enjoyed golfing, Friday night fish fries, waterfront restaurants, baking, gardening, and cherished time spent at family get-togethers. Shirley was a very religious woman that loved her family very much and was very generous and would do anything for anyone.
Shirley is survived by her two children, Kelly (Yvonne) Dykstra and Shelly (Jason) Newell; two grandchildren, Adrian Newell and Casey (Cassandra Gerbitz) Dykstra; one great-grandson, Boen Dykstra; five siblings, Carol Grainer Sass, Dan Dykstra, Mary (Richard) Aalsma, Ruth (Dan) Respalje, and Betty (Stan) Parafiniuk; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; Herman and Hazel(Rainey) Dykstra, a sister-in-law, Judithe Dykstra; and other relatives.
Visitation for Shirley will take place on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Werner Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton (Beaver Dam).
