Obituary

Shirley G. Helpap, age 98, formerly of Markesan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI.

Shirley was born on September 13, 1917 in the Green Lake Township, the only child of Fred and Martha (Welk) Schwandt. Shirley was a 1935 graduate of Markesan High School. On August 28, 1946 she married Roger Helpap in Milwaukee. Shirley was a lifelong member of Markesan United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She loved gardening, flowers and fishing.

Shirley is survived by her three children, Joyce Sanders of Neenah, Judy (Gary) McClelland of DePere and Jim (Jean) Helpap of Wautoma; seven grandchildren, Brittny, Lindsey, Lacey, Dustin, Dylan, Elyssa and Kayla; four great-grandchildren; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger and two sisters-in-law, June Wuethrich and Betty Larson.

Private family services for Shirley were held. Burial has taken place at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
