Shirley M. Zimmerman, age 83 of Beaver Dam, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

Visitation for Shirley will take place on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd, Beaver Dam, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Moberg officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam, with a luncheon to be served back at Cornerstone.

The former Shirley Weisensel was born on February 1, 1935 in Columbus, WI, the daughter of Emil and Florence (Potenberg) Weisensel. On June 4, 1955, she became the wife of John Zimmerman in Columbus. She attended school in Columbus, and after high school she worked as a dental receptionist and telephone operator in Columbus. She and her husband lived in Columbus and moved to Beaver Dam in 1965 and farmed, with Shirley being a wonderful housewife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also worked part time and enjoyed playing piano in her younger years.

Shirley is survived by her children, David (Corinne) Zimmerman of Fox Lake, Michael (Debra) Zimmerman of Beaver Dam, and Lynn (Dan Gillis) Zimmerman of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Tracy (Jon) Berger of Oshkosh, Kevin, Gina & Kyle Zimmerman, all of Beaver Dam, Andrea (Kevin) Eilbes of Beaver Dam, Carrie (Jeremy) Buchholz of Fox Lake, Dustin Pritchard of Beaver Dam; two step-grandchildren, Palmer (Rachel) Gauerke of Fox Lake and Anna Happel; several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brother, Phillip (Kathy) Weisensel of Sun Prairie; a sister-in-law of Beaver Dam; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, in 2016; infant grandson, and other relatives.
