Shirley May Machkovitz, age 95, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Clearview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Juneau.

A memorial gathering for Shirley will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services in Beaver Dam from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m.

Shirley was born on September 12, 1930, the daughter of Karl and Hilda Westphal. On November 7, 1953, Shirley was united in marriage to her husband, Eugene Machkovitz at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. The couple loved modern architecture and décor, each taking on roles in designing, building and decorating the various homes they owned throughout their lives. She was a prolific baker and cook, a diligent homemaker, and a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.  In her younger years she taught herself administrative skills she felt would serve her in finding employment when her children were grown, illustrative of her fierce independence and hard-working nature. Shirley was adventuresome and loved to travel with her family around Wisconsin, to Florida, and much of the rest of the US. She also enjoyed her swimming pool, snowmobiling, sailing, ski-boating, and many other pursuits. In the early 1990's Shirley retired with her husband to Florida, relishing her time living in The Villages by taking advantage of the pools, billiards, live music and trips to local attractions before returning to Wisconsin to be closer to her family.

Shirley is survived by her children, Randy (Rhea) Machkovitz and Cheryl Garin; her grandchildren, Tom (Tyrene) Marthaler and Shaawn (Brett Johnson) Olds; three great-grandchildren; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene; and her sisters, Phyllis Frank and Lois Westphal; her in-laws; and other relatives.
