Sophie M. (Stopar) Schaarschmidt, sadly at the young age of "103" has peacefully gone to rejoin the rest of her family on the date of September 23, 2017. She was preceded in death by husband Karl, parents Frank and Maria Stopar and her five brothers Frank, Victor, William, Anton and Roland.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice and her husband Chuck Key, six grandchildren, Chuck (Judy) Alcorn, Debra (Nick) Kirsenlohr, Claudia (Tim) Kierzek, Shelly (Joe) Valenti, Tony (friend Stacy) Decker and Artie Decker. Further survived by great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren and many more nieces and nephews.
Sophie and her husband ran Aero Park Airport along with her grandson Chuck and his wife Judy until the year 2004. This property is now being developed into a park by the Village of Menomonee Falls and will appropriately be named Aero Park.
During her long lifetime, Sophie participated in many organizations including EAA, Waukesha Elks, Wisconsin Tavern League, VFW Auxiliary, The Democratic Party, and a special affection for the South Division Old Timers (Go Cardinals).
She also had great memories of the many people and the various clubs that made Aero Park Airport a unique destination for 57 years in Menomonee Falls.
Per her wishes there will only be a private family service.
