Stanley Rakowski

October 27, 1940 — October 12, 2023

Stanley Rakowski, 82, formerly of St. Germain, WI and Chicago, IL, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Waupun Memorial Hospital. 

Stanley was born October 27, 1940 in Chicago, to Theodore and Irene Dombrowski Rakowski. After schooling, Stanley joined the United States Air Force as an MP in Japan. Upon his return he got a job at the Republic Steel Mill in South Chicago until the company closed, and later worked for Defender Doors as a salesman in Beverly Hills, IL. He met the love of his life Marlene Nagle Slateritz, and they later married on April 8, 1972. The couple lived in Chicago all their married lives until retirement and then moved up to St. Germain to enjoy life. Stanley was a long time member of the St. Germain Lions Club where he served as secretary. He was an active member of St. Mary in Sayner, WI where he was a eucharist minister. He will be greatly missed by many friends in the St. Germain and Chicago area. 

Stanley was a beloved husband for 52 years to Marlene Louise Rakowski; loved step-father to John (Joanne) Nagle, Robert (Kathleen) Nagle, and Joseph (Tomoko) Nagle; loving grandfather “Papa/Pops” to Lauren, Nicholas, Jonathan (Heather) Nagle, Shawn (Alison) Nagle, Joseph (BreAnna) Nagle, and Katherine (Josh) Olson; great-grandfather to Benton, Barrett, Trace Stanley, JoAnna, Rylin, Everick, and Ariana; beloved uncle to Gina Quintano and many others; and sister-in-law to Mary Jane Rakowksi and Anita Rakowski. 

Stanley was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristen Nagle; sister, Audrey Flavin; and  brothers: Michael Rakowski, Lawrence Rakowski, and Thomas Rakowski. 

Services will be held at a later date.
