Steven J. Mulder, 59, of Alto, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 13, 2012.



Steve was born December 3, 1952 in Waupun, the son by Willis and Ramona DeVries Mulder. Steve attended Central Wisconsin Christian High School, graduating in 1971. On July 27, 1973 he married Marilyn Alsum at First Christian Reformed Church in Waupun. Following their marriage the couple resided in the Waupun area all of their married lives. Steve was employed by Westra Construction in Waupun from 1972-2005. He then formed his own construction business, Steve Mulder Construction. Steve was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Waupun where he served as elder and deacon. He also served on the board of Central Wisconsin Christian Schools. He enjoyed family camping trips, and followed his children’s sporting events. Steve loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed working with his sons in construction.

Steve is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marilyn Mulder of Alto; their children, Brad (Lyn) Mulder of Chicago, Carrie (Jeff) Stiemsma of Waupun, Jeremy Mulder of Alto, Eric Mulder and fiancée Erica Nugteren of Waupun, and Travis Mulder of Alto; three grandchildren, Johanna and Owen Mulder, and Aiden Stiemsma; his parents, Willis and Ramona Mulder of Waupun; three brothers, Dan (Phyllis) Mulder of Waukesha, Phil (Sharon) Mulder of Sioux Center, Iowa, and Joe (Sandy) Mulder of Delavan, WI; two sisters, Faye (Ron) Scheuers of Chino, CA and Amy (Larry) VandenBerg of Waupun; mother-in-law, Theresa Alsum of Randolph; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry (Paula) Alsum of East Friesland, Tony (Sandy) Alsum of Waupun, Norb (Sandee) Alsum of Randolph, Tom (Deb) Alsum of Randolph, Jan (Brian) Braaksma of Randolph, Lorie (Steve) Tillema of Randolph, and Lisa (Stuart) White of Randolph; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Newton Alsum.


Services:
Funeral services for Steve Mulder will be held Friday, February 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Craig Van Hill officiating.

Burial:
Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery.

Visitation:
Friends and relatives of Steve Mulder may call on the family on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Friday at the church from 9:30-10:15 a.m.
