Steven L. Van Rensselaer, age 71 of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Friday, July 9, 2010 at home.
Steven was born on August 17, 1938 in Dunkirk, NY to Robert and Alice (nee Michielsen) Van Rensselaer. He graduated from Forestville High School in Forestville, NY. On August 6, 1960 he was united in marriage to Beverly J. Stone at Ev. Reformed Church in Antigo, WI. Steven honorably served in the United States Air Force and was also a member of the National Guard and the Air Guard. Before working in maintenance at John Deere, Steven worked at Johnson's Nursery in Menomonee Falls. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering with cars, spending time with his family, fishing, reading and going on casino trips with his wife.
Steven is survived by his wife, Beverly of Beaver Dam; his sons, Steven L. Van Rensselaer II, Russell Van Rensselaer and Keith Van Rensselaer, all of Beaver Dam; his grandchildren, Steven L. Van Rensselaer III, Zachary Van Rensselaer, Dustin Van Rensselaer, Michelle Van Rensselaer, Sarah Van Rensselaer, Russell Van Rensselaer Jr., Jade Van Rensselaer, and Karissa Van Rensselaer; his brother-in-law, Joseph (Sharon) Stone of Shawano; and his sister-in-laws, Judy (Orville) Jacobs of Shawano and Donna (Bob) Wehde of Clintonville. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Judy Van Rensselaer; his mother and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Ervin Stone and other relatives.
A Funeral Service for Steven will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd in Beaver Dam, with Deacon Ed Cody officiating. Military honors will be provided by the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146. Visitation will also take place at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
