Susan Ann Prochnow died peacefully at her home after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
Visitation for Susan will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 65 W. Catherine St., Markesan from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jason Jobs officiating. Burial will take place at Green Lake Center Cemetery, town of Green Lake.
Susan was born on September 1, 1944, to Louis and Edythe (Mohr) Schure. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member. She graduated from Markesan High School with the class of 1962, followed by graduation from cosmetology school in Madison. On May 22, 1965, she married James R. Prochnow and resided on the farm in the town of Green Lake where they raised their two children, Amy and Jason. Susan was a leader for St. John's Girl Pioneers and current member of the Ladies Aid. She spent several years as a general leader of Country Clovers 4H Club. She bowled for several years on the Monday night Women's Trio League. She was a member and past president of the Green Lake Dairy Promotion Committee, where she spent several years managing the "Little Red Ice Cream Barn" along with her husband. She worked at the Advertisers in Ripon, until she became a full-time farm wife and mom. She later worked part-time at Grand River Coop in the greenhouse, which she loved. She also enjoyed traveling to toy shows with her husband and several Longenberger basket bus trips. She enjoyed mowing lawn, tending to her flowers, crafting, and rummaging in her spare time.
Susan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jim; children, Amy (DuWayne) Badtke of Ripon and Jason (Hope) Prochnow of Markesan; grandchildren, Ethan and Isabelle Badtke, Anna and Natalie Prochnow; sister, Marlene Kammann; brother-in-law, Roger (Judy) Prochnow; and further survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nephews and nieces, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Edythe Schure; in-laws, Ben and Charlotte Prochnow; brother-in-law, Melvin Kammann and other relatives.
