Susan M. Koehler, age 59 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.

Susan was born on February 13, 1957 in Waupun, WI, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Zuehls) Born. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School, where she was proudly the first female member of the FFA. She was united in marriage to Gary W. Koehler on August 21, 1976 at St. John's Lutheran Church in the town of Trenton. Susan was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, finding great joy in providing for her family and putting others ahead of herself. She enjoyed grilling out, boating and collecting birdhouses, brass items, silhouette pictures and antiques.

Susan is survived by and will be deeply missed by her husband, Gary of Beaver Dam; her children, Chad (Christine) of Oshkosh, Lucas (Pakou Lee) of Oshkosh, Shannon (Andy) Jahnke of Beaver Dam and Colten of Beaver Dam; her grandchildren, Dayton, Carmyn, Brielle, Vanessa, Hailee, Morgan, Leah and Kassandra; her mother, Mary Ziebell of Waupun; her siblings, Les (Janene) Born of Beaver Dam, William Born of Waupun, Kathleen (Jim Madden) Nitschke of Beaver Dam and Dan (Kathleen Keating) Born of Pardeeville; her special friend, Karen Riel of Beaver Dam and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Susan was preceded in death by a baby in infancy; her father, Robert in 2014; her step-mother, Judith in 2015; a niece, Kimberly Nitschke and other relatives.

Visitation for Susan will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam with Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating. Burial will take place at Burnett Union Cemetery with a luncheon to be served back at Cornerstone.
