Teresa Jane Trotz, age 67 of Dalton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at the Markesan Resident Home with her family and Pastor by her side on Friday, May 23, 2025. Teresa closed her eyes to this world and breathed her last breath while listening to God's promises being read to her from the Psalms.
Visitation for Teresa will take place on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church, N796 Linden St., Dalton from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Kingston.
Teresa was born on January 9, 1958, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, the daughter of Alfred and Juanita (Atkinson) Graff. On February 9, 1958, she was baptized and confirmed on May 28, 1972 at Grace Lutheran Church where she attended all of her life. She faithfully served on the Ladies Aid and also taught Sunday School for many years. Raised in rural Dalton, on her family farm, she enjoyed the country life. She was a 1976 graduate of Markesan High School. Teresa then enjoyed working as a receptionist at multiple medical offices. On June 24, 1978, Teresa was united in marriage to Daniel Trotz at Grace Lutheran Church in Dalton. In her early adult years, she was diagnosed with a heart defect, which led to many medical challenges throughout her life. Teresa had a strong will and overcame many obstacles despite her health issues. Even though life was trying at times, she never complained and continued to push forward. Teresa enjoyed playing cards and board games with family, crossword puzzles and watching her favorite TV shows. She liked shopping for a good bargain and loved watching her grandkids play sports and long car rides— often stopping for a bite to eat.
Teresa will be greatly missed by her children: Andrea (Caleb) Opalewski of Dalton, Andrew (Hannah) Trotz of Dalton, and Adam (Heather) Trotz of Markesan; grandchildren: Alyssa and Emmy Opalewski, Harvest Trotz and a new baby coming soon, Austin, Ashtin and Addy Trotz. She is also survived by her sisters: Nancy (Allan) Hoffmann of Dalton and Barbara (Jeff) Lang of Pardeeville; brothers: Lawrence Graff of Dalton and Douglas Graff of Las Vegas; sisters-in-law: Julie Trotz of Onalaska and Barbara Trotz of Inver Grove Heights and many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
For 46 years, she was lovingly cared for by her husband, Daniel Trotz, who went ahead of her to heaven on April 28, 2025. Their love and commitment to each other was lived out to the very end. She was also preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Juanita Graff; her father-and mother-in-law, William and Maxine Trotz; sister, Anita Graff.
