Tomasita "Tomie" A. Martinez, age 84 of Beaver Dam, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Visitation for Tomasita will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St., Beaver Dam from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father Mike Erwin as celebrant. Burial will take place at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Beaver Dam.
Tomie was born on December 22, 1934 in Texas, the daughter of Margarita Marquez and Miguel Ramirez. On February 9, 1963 she married Eulalio "Lalo" Martinez in Randolph. The couple lived most of their lives in Randolph and most recently in Beaver Dam. She was a magnificent cook and baker, a true master maker of flour tortillas. Tomie was a second mother to her siblings and devoted her life to her husband and their three daughters.
Tomie worked at Rockwell Lumberyard in Randolph where Anderson Windows were made, Green Giant, Chrysler and Green Valley. She made their home the grandest place to live. Her hobbies were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading mysteries and having an elegant time enjoying popcorn while watching black and white movies. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family to exotic places in Wisconsin, as well as to Texas, Mexico and California.
Tomie is survived by her daughters, Elisa (Bill) Budde of Beaver Dam, Angelina Martinez of Milwaukee and Ingrid (Jeff) Martinez-Koch of Fox Lake; grandchildren, Leo Budde, Jim (Melanie) Budde, Megan (Jevin) Budde-Lortie, Sasha Martinez-de Groot, Quintina Martinez-de Groot, Ashley Link, McKayla Martinez-Koch, Dylan Martinez-Koch; great-grandchildren, Bill Budde, Lucy Budde, Santino de Groot, Ariya Miller, Tatiana Miller; siblings, Mary (Juan) Sanchez of Berlin, Daniel Marquez of Elmendorf, TX, Rachel Marquez of Mayville, Gloria (Antonio) Carbajal of Mayville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eulalio; sisters, Irene Cruz and Bioyolanda Marquez; brothers, Joseph (Vincent) Marquez and Franklin (George) Marquez and other relatives.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Remembrance Home for the loving care you showed to Tomie, especially Kathy Bates and Brenda Voight, along with the compassionate staff at Hillside Manor, and all of the hospice nurses. You rock!
