Valerie Pargeter, age 83, a native resident of England and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and beautiful soul who was kind to everyone, peacefully passed away at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac on June 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Valerie was born on February 14, 1942, in Tipton, England, the daughter of the late Edward and Eva Grainger. She shared her Valentine's birthday with her mother, Eva. Valerie spent her early years in her native country, where she graduated school, and began her career as a switchboard operator.
On September 14, 1963, Valerie married Robert Pargeter, and together they embarked on a life adventure that would take them across the ocean back to America. On April 1, 1965, they arrived in Waupun, WI, after a seven-day journey aboard the ship Queen Elizabeth II. Waupun became their cherished home for many wonderful years.
Valerie worked at Sand Knit for a few years before dedicating her life to raising her children and nurturing her family. She later worked part-time at Old Town Inn and Guth's Candy in Waupun. After retiring, Valerie and Robert continued to share their passion for travel and adventure, by camping and exploring the diverse landscapes of our beautiful country and creating lasting memories. They traveled around the U.S., covering many miles and locations. Her legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of her children, who are grateful for the countless moments spent traveling and exploring their beautiful country together.
Valerie enjoyed being a part of the Waupun Craft Center for over 40 years. She cherished her time spent with the "stitchers" group of friends for more than 25 years. Valerie’s commitment to her crafts was only overshadowed by the love she held for her family and friends. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Valerie will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 61 years, Robert Pargeter; children: Andrea (Kurt) Fenrich of Waupun and Greg (Kari) Pargeter of Burnett; 4 grandsons: Alex (Elizabeth) Fenrich, Nicholas Fenrich, and Jack Pargeter (fiancee, MacKenzie Rahn), and Charlie Pargeter; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cynthia Grainger, Betty Grainger, Ronald (Patricia) Pargeter, Jean (Steve) Langdell, Collin (Anita) Pargeter, and Mandy Pargeter; and further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Eva Grainger; sister, Doreen (George) Hardiman; brothers: Edward Grainger and Trevor Grainger; and brother-in-law, Keith Pargeter.
Per Valerie’s wishes there will be no services and cremation will take place. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun. A light lunch will be served in the event center during the visitation times.
In lieu of flowers, plants and gifts, memorials can be directed to Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to Dr. Bre Anna Nagle and staff as well as SSM Hospice and Hospice Home of Hope nurses and staff for their kindness, compassion, and extraordinary care given to Valerie.
She will be deeply missed by her family and all those privileged to have known her.
