Verna was born on June 1, 1919 in Dodge County, WI to Fred and Amanda (Spielman) Stegner. She was united in marriage to Paul Tischer. After his passing, she was united in marriage to Elmer Schultz. Throughout her working years, she worked at Weyenberg Shoe Factory, as well as a waitress at Chili John's. Verna was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
Verna loved life and enjoyed having fun. She had a warm, loving personality and treasured all of the time she spent with her family, especially family dinners and Christmas gatherings. She enjoyed listening to polka music, playing BINGO, traveling, going to the casino, playing cards at the Senior Center, doing embroidery and camping.
Verna is survived by her daughter, Deanna Schade of Beaver Dam; her daughter-in-law, Faye Tischer of Beaver Dam; her grandchildren, Randall (Mary) Schade and their son, Kyle (Samantha Westphal) Schade of Beaver Dam and Bambi Tischer of Sun Prairie; her step-son, Randy (Mary) Schultz of Markesan; her step-son-in-law, Jack Hertz of New Leipsig, ND; seven step-grandchildren; her sister, Murdell (Robert) Hughes of Beaver Dam; and further survived by great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; her son, Gordon Tischer; her step-son, Earl Tischer; her step-daughter, Cheryl Hertz; three brothers; seven sisters and other relatives.
