Verna N. Triemstra, age 96 of Markesan, left this earth to be with her Lord on April 2, 2018. She was currently living at the Markesan Resident Home.

Visitation for Verna will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Markesan United Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ethan Larson officiating. Burial will take place at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.

Verna was born on June 26, 1921 in Oshkosh, the daughter of Fred and Elsa (Nimmer) Neuenfeldt. She worked for an insurance company in Oshkosh after graduation. On March 17, 1944 she was united in marriage to John Triemstra. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1980. They lived in Cambria, Beaver Dam, then Markesan. She worked at Del Monte in the employment office during the canning season for 27 years.

Throughout the years, Verna was active in her church and was a member of the Wisconsin Association of HCE. She was Past Worthy Matron of Markesan Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and Grand Representative for Wisconsin Order of the Eastern Star to the state of New York. Verna loved to cook, bake, watch the birds, tend to her flower beds and green plants, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending family events.

Verna is survived by her sons, Ron (Darcy) Triemstra of Green Lake and Dennis (Linda) Triemstra of Markesan; grandchildren, Lisa (Tom) Jeffers of Mardela Springs, MD, Jennifer Triemstra (Christine Marlo) of Minneapolis, MN, Kelly Triemstra of Oshkosh and Mark Triemstra of Markesan; great-grandchildren, Stella and Frankie; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sister, Lucile Reinke; brother, Fred Neuenfeldt; sister-in-law, Arleen and nephew, James Neuenfeldt.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Markesan Resident Home for the wonderful care given to Verna the last 12 years. Also, special thanks to Angie Carmody for visiting Verna and the love and support you have given the family.
