Vernon D. Hagen, 77, of Waupun, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 15, 2015.




Vern was born November 4, 1937 in the town of Sigel, Wood County, WI, the son of Roy and Verna Stienback Hagen. Vern graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. On December 5, 1964 he married Charlotte Mehlbrech Clussman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in the town of Sigel in Wood County. Vern worked at Consolidated Paper in Biron for 11 years. In 1968 they moved to Waupun where he worked for the City of Waupun Street Department until he retired. He then drove part-time for NAPA Auto Parts in Waupun. Vern served as a volunteer fireman in Waupun for over 30 years. He was a member of Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun where he served as elder and usher. He was a very devout member of the church. Vern also served six years with Wisconsin National Guard and was deployed to Fort Lewis Washington for a year during the Berlin Crisis. Vern taught welding for MPTI for over 20 years. He enjoyed doing welding projects for his friends, was an avid flower gardener, and loved his family dearly.

Vern is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte Hagen of Waupun; a daughter, Angela (Karl) Navis of Waupun; a son, Wally (Joyce) Clussman of rural Waupun; grandchildren: Paige and Taylor Navis, Jeremy (Kelli) Clussman, Ryan Clussman, Amy Schumacher and friend, Sylvester Sheridan, and Daniel (Kari) Schumacher; great-grandchildren: Derek, Lydia, and Sarah Schumacher, Miles, Lorenzo, and Talaya Sheridan, and Thomas and Emma Clussman; six brothers: Howard (Janice) Hagen, Leland (Jill) Hagen, Joseph Hagen, Ronald (Laura) Hagen, Thomas (Ann) Hagen, and Rollie Hagen; three sisters: Mary (Bernie) Halkowski, Virginia (David) Paulus, and Mavis Bagby; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Krummel; infant sister, Genevieve; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hagen; brothers-in-law: Robert Bagby and Robert Krummel; and step-children: Gerald and Ruth Clussman.





Visitation:


Friends and relatives of Vern Hagen may call on the family on Monday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.



Services:


Funeral services for Vernon Hagen will be held Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun with Rev. Mike Stock officiating.



Burial:


Burial will take place at Meehan Cemetery near Plover, WI.
