Vernon L. Buchda, age 82 of Fox Lake, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
Vernon was born in Beaver Dam on November 14, 1927 to Lyle and Inez (nee Waterworth) Buchda. He was a class of 1946 graduate of Beaver Dam High School, and on November 28, 1948 he was united in marriage to Marian Hedman in Shirland, IL. Vernon spent most of his life farming, but did spend a few earlier years working at Green Giant and also driving truck. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving tractor and watching hockey. He was also an animal lover. Vernon was a family man and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Marian of Fox Lake; his children, Douglas Buchda of Fox Lake, Lynette (Paul) Brown of Green Cove Springs, FL, Terry (Linda) Buchda of Beaver Dam, Dennis (Charmaine) Buchda of Fall River, Renee Bradley of Waukau, WI, Thomas (Shawn) Buchda of Beaver Dam, Alan (Vonda) Buchda of Alto, and Jason (Becky) Buchda of DeForest; 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers, Donald (Dorice) Buchda of Fox Lake and Leland (Donna) Buchda of rural Shawano, WI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a son Stephen in 1964.

A Funeral Service for Vernon will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd in Beaver Dam. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and also prior to the service on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Highland Memory Gardens in the Town of Trenton. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St. Alexandria, VA 22311.
