Obituary
Vida E. Gelhar, age 84 of Markesan, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Ripon Medical Center.
Vida was born on August 17, 1929 in Fond du Lac, WI to William and Amelia (nee Lenz) Moderow. She graduated from Markesan High School in 1947. Over the years, Vida worked at Fall River Canning Factory, Markesan Drug Store and PMI in Markesan. On October 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to Elgart A. Gelhar at St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan.
Vida was an active member, enjoyed attending Bible Study and being a part of the Ladies Aid at St. John's Lutheran Church. She played in several Bridge Clubs around Markesan and enjoyed Bowling League. She was an avid sports fan, loved to travel and treasured all of the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren, attending as many of their functions as she could.
Vida is survived by her children, Debra (Bryan) Bello of Long Grove, IL, Nancy (Rick) Meiller of Baraboo and Mark (Laurie) Gelhar of Markesan; her grandchildren, Bryson Bello, Jacob Meiller and Taylor Gelhar; one niece, one nephew, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elgart and other relatives.

A Funeral Service for Vida will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Markesan with Rev. Jason Jobs officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service at church, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Vida will be laid to rest at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
