Viola L. Schwantz, age 91, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.

Viola was born on July 1, 1919 to Arthur and Laura (nee Kaseman) Koehn in Beaver Dam. On July 23, 1942, she was united in marriage to Alfred Schwantz, Sr. in Beaver Dam. Viola worked as a waitress at many area restaurants. She was also employed at Beaver Specialties and Weyenberg Shoe Factory. She was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, and she enjoyed playing BINGO, playing cards and spending time with her family.

Viola is survived by her four children, Al (Nancy) Schwantz, Jr. of Reeseville, Mary Lou Bennett of West Bend, Lora Uherka of Beaver Dam and Howard Schwantz of Joplin, MO; ten grandchildren, Patrick (Brenda) Schwantz, Jennifer Lawson, Steve (Beth) Bennett, Tim (Julie) Bennett, Todd (Mary) Schwantz, Travis Uherka, Tammy Uherka, Mike Schwantz, Matthew Schwantz and Michelle Schwantz; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Richard Koehn and Robert (Mary) Koehn, both of Beaver Dam. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred in 1959; her brother, Ronald; her sisters, Arlene and Ellamay; her daughter-in-law, Sandy Schwantz; her son-in-law, Wayne Bennett and her granddaughter, Megan Schwantz.

A Funeral Service for Viola will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, 300 West Street in Beaver Dam with Rev. Paul Stratman officiating. Visitation will also take place on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Rex Cemetery in the Town of Hubbard.
