Violet Vogel, age 77 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.

Violet was born on August 17, 1933 in the Town of Marinette in Columbia County to Sam and Opal (nee Biddle) Sheeks. During high school she worked at a local grocery store and graduated from Fox Lake High School. On October 9, 1951 she was united in marriage to Carlos E. Vogel at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. She worked at Green Giant, Monarch Range, Mercury Cabinets, Cozy Counter and John Deere. She retired from the Beaver Dam Community Hospital after working there for 21 years.

Violet was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. Her family was very important to her. She was very protective of her boys and did her best to keep them all clean and looking good. She spent a lot of time outdoors, where she enjoyed gardening, celebrating "Happy Hour" outside of the garage and getting a nice tan. Violet also liked traveling, canning, cooking, going shopping and collecting dolls and jewelry.

Violet is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Carlos Vogel of Beaver Dam; her five sons, David Vogel of Brillion, Chuck (Cindy) Vogel of Beaver Dam, Steven Vogel of Oakland, CA, Michael (JoAnn) Vogel and Carl Vogel both of Beaver Dam; four grandchildren, Dustin, Amanda, Robert and Kristin Vogel; four sisters, Virginia (Lloyd) Thomas of Beaver Dam, Rose Bushke of Fox Lake, Daisy Hafenstein and Lily Jones, both of Beaver Dam; one brother-in-law, Alvin (Rose) Vogel of Beaver Dam; one sister-in-law, Virginia (Russ) Winn of Beaver Dam; and a special niece and nephew, Barb DeVoll and Butch Slinger . She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, six brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and other relatives.

A Funeral Service for Violet will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd, Beaver Dam with Rev. Paul Lindau officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the Township of Trenton, Dodge County. A luncheon will immediately follow back at the funeral home.

Violet will be greatly missed and loved forever.
