Obituary

Virginia D. Rupnick, age 83 of Beaver Dam and formerly of Milwaukee, died peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Virginia was born on July 26, 1925 in Milwaukee to John and Anna (nee Strahanowski) Budish. She was a graduate of the former Girls Tech in Milwaukee and later achieved her Associate Degree in Accounting. On October 14, 1948, Virginia was united in marriage to Melvin Rupnick in Milwaukee. She worked at various jobs throughout the Milwaukee area including laundry supervisor and a payroll clerk. She was a former member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hales Corners. In her younger years, Virginia was very active as a Girl Scout leader, coaching volleyball, bowling leagues and participated in all sports. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with her companion Howard, gardening, playing cards in the Tuesday card club, preparing for Mass and Rosary Hour, all at Forest Ridge in Hales Corners. Most importantly, she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Throughout Virginia's life she thought of everyone else first and was an excellent role model for being selfless.

Virginia is survived by her two daughters; Rene (Wayne) Gellings of Markesan, Gail Grau of Mukwanago and Gail's former husband Bill Grau, grandsons; Christopher and Michael Gellings, Erik and Peter Grau, her special companion, Howard Thein of Hales Corners, special friends; Laurie Lavender of Waukesha and John Thein of Nebraska. She is survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, two brothers; Leo and David Budish, a sister, Delores Maciejewski and her father and mother-in-law, Frank and Evangeline (nee LeHebine) Rupnick.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sat. January 3, 2009 at 11:00a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Parish, 2114 W. Mitchell St. in Milwaukee with Fr. Carlos Florez as Celebrant. Visitation will also be on Sat. January 3, 2009 from 10:00a.m. until the time of Mass. Inurnment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 3801 W. Morgan Ave. in Milwaukee.
