Virginia "Ginny" Mae Draheim, age 82 of Beaver Dam and formerly of Juneau, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Virginia was born on September 12, 1931 in Beaver Dam to Fred and Viola (nee Fischer) Beneditz of Burnett. She was baptized on October 4, 1931 and confirmed on March 25, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in Burnett. Ginny graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1949 and worked as a camp reporter for National Mutual Benefit for 25 years. She also worked as a cook at Clearview in Juneau for over 16 years.
Ginny served as the secretary for the Dodge County 76ers, was the former Vice President of the Juneau Senior Citizens, a former member of the Election Board and a volunteer for the Bethesda Country Fair. She was also a member of Legion Auxiliary #15 for over 40 years. She loved to cook, fish and play cards.
Ginny is survived by her daughter Deborah Matuszeski of Wisconsin Rapids; her daughter-in-law, Donna Draheim of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Jesse (Megan) and Aaron Matuszeski and Douglas (Sue) and Tim (Nicole) Draheim; and her great-grandchildren. She is further survived by cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son David and her favorite aunt and uncle, Frank and Amanda Fischer.
A Memorial Service for Virginia will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., in Beaver Dam. A Memorial Gathering will be held prior to the service at Cornerstone, beginning at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the memorial service at Cornerstone. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Stone Cemetery in Burnett.
