Wallace "Wally" F. Christian, age 87, of Waupun, died Monday, June 23, 2025 at Christian Home Care and Rehab Center in Waupun, WI.
Services will be held at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Salem-Lowell Campus, 105 Juneau St., Lowell, on Thursday, July 17, 2025 with a memorial gathering from 9:30 am to 11:30 am followed by a service at 11:30 am. Final resting place will be at the Reeseville Cemetery, Reeseville, WI.
Wally was born on August 28, 1937, in Columbus, WI, to the late Rueben and Edna (Wesenberg) Christian. He was a 1956 graduate of the Columbus High School. On August 16, 1958, he married Marlene M. Neuman in Lost Lake, WI and together they had four children. Marlene and Wally made Reeseville, WI, their home for over 60 years, until they moved to Beaver Dam, WI, In 2021, and then to Waupun.
Wally was a member of the 32nd infantry division of the National Guard with active duty in 1961-1962 in Fort Lewis, Washington, and was an active member of the Reeseville Fire Department for 30 years. He worked for TDS Telephone and Data Systems from 1960 until he retired in 2000 with 40 years of service. He was a long-time member of Salem Lutheran Church in Lowell, WI, where over the years he served as an usher and held various positions on the church council.
Wally was known by many around Reeseville and the surrounding area. He loved his huge garden and took special pride in his prized potatoes. He liked to go out to breakfast with friends who he was known to have some very "spirited" debates with. He spent many years of horse play with his 11 grandchildren, and now 16 great grandchildren, soon to be 20.
Survivors include his four children; Peggy Curtis of Castle Rock, CO; Mike (Tami) Christian of Fond du Lac, WI; Mark Christian of Lake Mills, WI; Matt (Vicki) Christian of Beaver Dam, WI. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren; Jason (Kellie) Christian, Nick (Suzanne) Christian, Justin (Holly) Christian, Erin (Scott) Norman, Caitlin (Bryan Sowers) Curtis, Luke (Heidi) Curtis, Eric (Cora) Curtis, Abby (Dustin) Christian-Crouch, Jon (Becca) Christian, Amber (Tyler) Wanie, and Ryan (Lexie) Christian and 16 great-grandchildren; Harvey and Hudson Curtis, Layla Curtis, Carter Sowers, Ava and Evelyn Curtis, Marshall and Garrett Norman, Hailey and Daniel Christian, Ethan and Madisyn Christian, Beau Christian, Miles Christian, Edison and Kate Crouch. He is also survived by two sisters; Diane (John) Potenberg and Karen Dykstra; two brothers Kenneth (Lola) Christian and Dennis (Patty) Christian; sister-in-laws, Delores Christian and Clara Kennedy; and other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; his parents; his in-laws, John and Goldie (Sommerfeld) Neuman; seven sisters, Jane, Doris, Elaine, Lorraine, Glenda, Arlene, and Edna; a brother, James; brother-in-laws, Curtis Neuman and his wife Edna, Arden Neuman and his wife Eva Mae; sister-in-law, Madeline Schultz and her husband, Robert; and son-in-law, Dan Curtis. His brother, Rueben "Sonny," subsequently passed the day following Wally's death.
