Walter John Retzlaff Jr., age 63 of Beaver Dam, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at his home in Beaver Dam.

Walter was born on November 24, 1948 to Walter and Savilla (nee Geiger) Retzlaff in Columbus, Wisconsin. He began farming at an early age and continued farming in the Juneau area for nearly 15 years. Walter would also work at the Kirsh Foundry in Beaver Dam for 5 years until he ventured west to California where he rose to the rank of Forman at Advanced Disposal. Eventually, Walter found a passion for truck driving and would start his own company, Retzlaff Trucking. He would drive truck for nearly 32 years and eventually move back to Beaver Dam where he could be closer to his family.

Walter was a collector of many things during his life, and loved to tinker on numerous projects. His love for stories and telling them will be greatly missed.

Walter is survived by his mother, Savilla; his three sons, Douglas Herreman, Mike (Shawna) Retzlaff, Dan (Shannon) Retzlaff; his grandchildren, Lauren Retzlaff, Kaitlyn Retzlaff, Matthew Baker, Faith Fatino, Bill Fatino, Cady Baker; and his only great-grandchild, Emma De La Rosa. He is also survived by his siblings, Gary Retzlaff, Dennis (Pauline) Retzlaff, Diane Retzlaff, Debra Retzlaff, Deanna (Chico) Schaefer, Sandra (Dennis) Eager, Randy (Donna) Retzlaff, Pat (Craig) Fauser, Rick (Lori) Retzlaff, Kathy (Kim) Standke, David (Michelle) Retzlaff, Karen (Norb) Hughes and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Walter is preceded in death by his father, Walter John Retzlaff Sr.

In following Walter's wishes there will not by any services at this time but an inurnment will take place at a later date.
