Obituary

Wayne Wesley Propst, age 87, of Beaver Dam, passed away on September 17, 2025. He was born on April 24, 1938, in Beaver Dam, WI, the son of Wesley and Violet (Giese) Propst.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam, with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. A lunch will follow the service at the church.

Wayne was a 1956 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. On June 23, 1962, he married Margaret Messer at Grace Presbyterian in Beaver Dam officiated by Reverend David Bebb Jones. They shared 44 wonderful years together before her passing on November 20, 2006. Together, they raised two sons, Robert and Andrew. Following Margaret's passing, Wayne found companionship and love with his significant other, Mary White, with whom he shared many happy years.

A lifelong farmer, Wayne was proud to be self-employed and deeply connected to the land and was an early adapter to no till farming in the area. Wayne was on the vegetable marketing committee, a member of the Dodge County Farm Bureau and Dodge County Pork Producers and served on the Town of Beaver Dam Planning and Development Committee. Wayne was also a faithful member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and an usher.

Wayne had many interests that brought him joy. He loved model trains, traveling to Arizona and Florida during winter, picking hickory nuts, and completing word searches. He loved gospel music and was looking forward to hearing the angels sing in heaven. Known for his love of dogs, he was rarely without treats in his pocket to share with his four-legged friends. Anyone who knew Wayne would say he was a kind and generous man and was always willing to lend a helping hand. One of his greatest joys was giving rides to his grandchildren and cheering them on at their various activities—he loved being part of their lives.

Wayne is survived by his significant other Mary White; his children Robert (Brenda) Propst and Andrew (Tracy) Propst; grand-children Steven (Stefanie) Propst, Mitchell (Ashley) Propst, Zackary Propst, and Lindsay Propst; and great-grandchildren Carson, Brooks, and Kennedy. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Jean Hancock; brother-in-law Roger Neuendorf; nieces Erin Herold and Jill Neuendorf; nephews Matthew and Thomas Hancock; numerous cousins; and Mary's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Violet; his wife, Margaret; his sisters, Eldean Walling and Elaine Neuendorf, and other relatives.

Wayne will be remembered for his hard work, his kindness, and his love for family, friends, and farm and his deep Christian faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
