Wendell James Grams, age 88 of Markesan, passed away on Sunday, Sunday, September 10, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.

Visitation for Wendell will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 65 W. Catherine St., Markesan with Rev. Jason Jobs officiating. Burial will follow at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.

Wendell was born on December 8, 1928, the son of Ernest and Marie (Siewert) Grams. He spent his whole life in the Markesan/Mackford area. He helped his parents farm, until they left farming and he took a job at the Markesan Grand River Co-op (Cenex), where he worked delivering LP gas the rest of his life.

Wendell was married twice, first to Delores (nee Schulz), until she passed away suddenly in 1962. He married again in 1975 to Ruth (nee Teske) Weinbender. They remained happily married until Ruth passed away in 2016. Wendell was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan. He enjoyed polka music and polka dancing. He also enjoyed country music, square dancing and bowling.

Wendell is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Grams of Neenah; step-daughters, Robin Samonte  and Ruth Okimura, both of Maui, Hawaii; step-daughter-in-law, Terry (nee Mabry) of South Carolina; step-grandchildren, Lisa Cheramie of North Carolina, Eric Weinbender of South Carolina and Gretchen Samonte of Hawaii; nephews, Lynn (Beverly) Whitehouse of Markesan, Melvin Schulz of Las Vegas, Nevada; nieces, Gina (David) Seeliger of Appleton, Sharon (Vic) Zander of Randolph and Nancy (Peter) Turck of Beaver Dam; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; daughter, Linda Grams; step-son, Rex Weinbender; and sister Erna (nee Grams) Whitehouse.
