Wilbur E. Ganz, age 88 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Bridgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Neenah.
Wilbur was born on March 7, 1925 in Fox Lake, WI to Gustav and Margaret Ganz. He was united in marriage to Jane Gorr on April 8, 1945 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Fox Lake. To that union was born 6 children and 13 grandchildren. Wilbur and Jane began their life together on the family homestead farm for 25 years. He was a very proud man and worked the entire land up with one tractor by himself at what is now known as the Beaver Dam Country Club. After retiring from farming in 1970, he worked for Dodge County Coop/United Cooperative, where he was the branch manager at their Juneau plant.
Wilbur was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He enjoyed playing cards with family and close friends and was a member of Milwaukee Polka Boosters for many years. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren and taught all his children to polka.
Wilbur is survived by his wife of over 68 years, Jane of Beaver Dam; his children, Gae (Dan) Burie of Waukesha, Lonie (Kevin) Wise of Oconomowoc, Kim (Marc) Malisch of DeForest, Monica (Jim) Tellock of Larsen, WI and Mark Ganz of Janesville; 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Kurt, Chad, Michael, Angela, Joylynn, Amy, Adam, Jayme, Stephanie, Cody, Luke and Lillian; 17 great-grandchildren; his sister, Marion Manka of Beaver Dam; his brother-in-law, Gerald Gorr of Juneau; three sisters-in-law, Irma Ganz of Beaver Dam, Eva Sadoski and Joyce Gorr, both of Randolph, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Lea, his parents, three brothers, Elmer, Lawrence and William Ganz and other relatives.
A Funeral Service for Wilbur will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, 300 West St., Beaver Dam, with Rev. Paul Stratman officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service at church, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fox Lake.
