Obituary
Wilfred "Bill" S. Tamminga, age 77, husband to Lorraine and dad to Susan and Annette, passed away from ALS on July 24, 2013 with his family by his side.
Bill was born in Randolph, WI on March 31, 1936 to Geram and Rena (nee Vandergalien) Tamminga. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1954. He married Lorraine Kuenzi on May 16, 1958. He served two years in the United States Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and three years in the Army Reserves. He had a 42 year career at Kraft Foods in Beaver Dam and cleaned at Morry's Bar after retirement.
He was an avid and exceptional fisherman, spending his free time on the many area lakes with his numerous fishing buddies. He enjoyed gardening, watching NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers with his faithful companion Cinnamon.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorraine of Beaver Dam; daughters, Susan of Beaver Dam and Annette of Bloomington, IL; brother, Ted (Nancy) of Siren, WI; sister, Winetta (Robert) Vining of Brandon, Oregon; mother-in-law, Augusta Kuenzi; brothers-in-law, Norbert (Debbie) Kuenzi and Gerald (Julie) Kuenzi; nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, other family and many wonderful friends too numerous to mention.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Merlin Kuenzi and other family and friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the ALS multidisciplinary team of Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Madison VA Hospital, Hillside Hospice, ComForcare Senior Services, ALS Association, Paralyzed Veterans Association, the ALS Fox Valley Support Group and the many friends who assisted during the end of Bill's difficult journey.
There will be a private burial service and a celebration of his life for family and friends at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bill's name to ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Rd, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301 or Hillside Hospice, 707 S. University Ave., Beaver Dam, WI 53916.
