Obituary

William Charles Krentz, age 94 of Markesan, died Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Markesan Resident Home in Markesan with family by his side.

Visitation for Bill will be held on Thursday, August 26 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 65 W. Catherine St., Markesan, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jason Jobs officiating. Burial will take place at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.

He was born on March 7, 1927 in the farmhouse where he lived all his life, son of William A. and Ella (Kruesel) Krentz. In 1945, he met the love of his life Anna Marie (Vander Werff) Krentz at the Fox Lake Community Center at a Polka Dance. On May 29, 1948 they were united in marriage with a Candlelight Service at the First Reformed Church in Randolph. Together, they farmed side-by-side for over 60 years and raised 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Farming was his pride and joy, and when not in a tractor or combine, you could always find him with his white German Shepherd, Cisco, by his side. He loved to Polka dance with his wife Anna Marie and could dance circles around anyone. He enjoyed going to farm shows, had a passion for Case IH and working alongside his sons every day. Most of all, he liked spending time with his family and giving everyone a hard time when playing cards (and he always wanted to cheat!)

Bill is survived by his children, Dorene (Ed Gentile) Glover of Cape Coral, FL, Allan C. (Susan) Krentz of Markesan, Dorothea (Jim Bruns) Krentz of Markean, Marie E. (Tom) Dulas of Markesan and William H. (Beth) Krentz of Markesan; 11 grandchildren, William J. (Amy) Glover, Michael (Kayla) Glover, Michael Pollesch, Sara (Jason) Lemke, Allan W. (Rheanna) Krentz, Charles (Brittany) Krentz, Jonathan (Miranda Gelinsky) Dulas, William W. (Tricia) Krentz, Marieanna (Tyler) Wild, Chelsea (Wesley) Eisenga and Quintin (Madi) Krentz; great-grandchildren, Alex (Mckenna) Glover, Allen Glover, Megan Glover, Dustin Glover, Shane Glover, Logan Lemke, Landon Lemke, Lane Lemke, Gage Krentz, Larkin Krentz, Kameron Krentz, Taylor Krentz, Haidyn Dulas, Cayson Dulas, Jaxton Dulas, Ellie Jo Wild, Annabelle Krentz, Liam Krentz, Elsie Krentz, Hadley Eisenga and Steele Eisenga; twin sister, Betty Ponto; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna Marie; sister, Dorothy (Dave) Konovsky; brother-in-law, Orlo Ponto and other relatives.

If desired, memorials in Bill's name may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church.
