IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William E.
Bork Sr.
June 12, 1928 – January 2, 2015
William "Bill" Eric Bork Sr., age 86 of Marquette and Waupun, and formerly of Waukesha, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Ripon Medical Center.
Bill was born on June 12, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Eric and Hattie (Roecklein) Bork. He graduated from Milwaukee Juneau High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, just prior to the Korean War. Bill was married to Carol Hurst for 51 years, until her passing in 2001. Bill worked as a dispatcher for the Waukesha Police Department. He was formerly involved in Boy Scouts and was a Post Advisor for the former Explorer Scout Post 178 in Waukesha, which was sponsored by the Waukesha Police Department. Bill was a member of the VFW Post 10452 in Princeton, the George Thompson American Legion Post #395 in Kingston and Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun.
Bill was also an active member of the Marquette Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) for 20 years. He became known as "Grandpa Bill" to many of the younger members on the department. Bill's specialty was selling raffle tickets when the department had their bingo fundraiser for a number of years, as well as other fundraising events over the years. Even after retiring after 20 years, Bill still had strong and continued support for the MVFD. Bill was also a member of the Puckaway Yacht Club, and in his free time, he enjoyed fishing and riding on his pontoon. Bill always had something to say and seemed to make a person laugh one way or another. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog Sam, who passed away in December of 2013.
Bill is survived by his fiancée, Susan of Marquette/Waupun; his children, Mary Pirtle of Wailuku, HI, William Eric (Chris) Bork Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO and David (Janet) Bork of Waukesha; his grandchildren, Jaime, Chris, Eric, Colleen, Andrew; step-grandson, Anthony Cira; great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carol, his daughter Karen and other relatives.
